Here is an ultimate beginners guide on how to conceive a boy. I am going to be teaching you about the Shettles method for a boy that actually works.
Although, the only 100% guaranteed method for conceiving any gender is via IVF sex selection. But Shettles method has an impressive success rate of 75-90%.
I would recommended trying the Shettles method to intentionally have a baby boy rather than leaving it to a 50/50 percent chance.
What is Shettles Method
The Shettles Method was developed by a biologist called Dr Landrum Shettles.
Dr Shettles discovered that the gender of a baby is determined by the type of sperm that fertilises the egg.
The sperm of a man are of two types: One carries the X chromosome and another carries the Y chromosome.
If the Y chromosome carrying sperm fertilises the egg first a boy is conceived.
If the X carrying chromosome fertilises the egg first a girl is conceived.
So it is the sperm of the man that determines the gender of the baby at conception.
A woman's egg (ovum) carries the X chromosome.
Shettles also discovered that both types of sperm, behave differently.
The Y sperm:
- Swims faster but dies quickly
- Is less resilient and weaker
The X sperm:
- Swims slower but lives longer
- Is resilient and stronger
The two most important steps to have a baby boy are:
Timing of intercourse and the position of intercourse
We can use this knowledge and understanding to get the baby gender of our choice.
How To Get Pregnant With A Boy
I'll explain to you the steps and things to do to have a boy.
1. Have intercourse on the Day of Ovulation
This is the most important factor if you want to conceive a baby boy.
The best time for the conception of a boy is the day of your ovulation. And this is mainly because this gives the male (Y) sperm a huge chance of reaching the egg first to penetrate it.
Remember a woman's chances of conceiving are only possibly on 6 days in a whole menstrual cycles. These days are the 5 days before ovulation and the day of ovulation itself.
The farther from ovulation, you have intercourse the more likely you are to conceive a girl. This is because the male sperm will be dead before the egg is released at ovulation days later.
The X sperms can live up to 5-7 days in a woman's body. Whereas, the egg only lives for 12-24 hours after been released.
Whereas if you have sex on the day you ovulate, the Y sperm will swim faster than the X sperm to reach the egg first.
So the most important question is how do you know exactly when you are ovulating.
I am going to be sharing with you 4 ways to know when you ovulate:
1. Ovulation Predictor Kits
The easiest and most accurate way to predict ovulation is to use an ovulation predictor kits.
These predictor kits basically detect the level of a particular hormone called the luteinising hormone in the urine.
Just some hours before ovulation occurs there is an LH surge which then triggers ovulation.
Once you get a positive OPK have sex within the next 6-12 hours.
Test for ovulation twice daily(morning and Evening) from around a week after your period. Try this for atleast 2-3 months before you try to conceive. So you can be sure you have mastered the act of pin-pointing ovulation.
This is so so important to be able to pin-point ovulation so you can have intercourse accordingly to have a boy.
2. Learn your own personal Ovulation signs and symptoms
Although not everybody know when they are ovulating as there may be no pain or symptoms involved.
But I can assure you that if you start to tune into you body, you will notice some changes or very mild abdominal cramp around the middle of your cycle.
Also some changes in your cervical mucus can help tell you are approaching ovulation. Most women notice they feel horny around the day of their ovulation.
3. Cervical mucus charting
Another way to predict ovulation is to start charting your cervical mucus, everyday of your cycle. Through out your menstrual period, your cervical mucus changes in texture and consistency, indicating what stage of your cycle you are in.
Imagine the days without ovulation predictors kits. Manual cervical mucus charting would have been so great for them.
Here is an example of what your cervical mucus means:
- Dry and Sticky - Not Ovulating
- Creamy - You are entering your fertile window
- Wet - You are in your fertile window and close to ovulation
- Egg White Cervical Mucus - You are Ovulating
4. Your Basal Body Temperature
Your Basal body temperature is your body's temperature at rest. For example your temperature early in the morning before you jump off the bed.
Taking your temperature every morning when you wake up through out your menstrual cycle is a low cost way to predict your ovulation.
Chart for a few months to look for patterns of what happens around your ovulation to your body's temperature.
The easiest and simplest way to predict ovulation I always recommend is an ovulation predictor kit. Don't try to have a boy without using one.
Other methods may fail you but an opk would not as long as you test twice daily from a week past the end of your period.
2. Sexual Position
The best position to have a baby boy is a position that allows the sperm to be deposited as close to the cervix as possible.
The cervix is the entrance of the uterus (womb). It connects the vagina to the womb basically.
The best position for a deep penetration is the rear-entry position popularly known as the doggy.
The reason why this position is best is because the Y sperm do not like the acidic and hostile environment of the vagina because they are weak in nature
The resilient X sperm would thrive better in swimming through the vagina better than the Y sperm.
Depositing the sperm as close to the cervix as possible makes the Y sperm to escape this environment.
A shallow penetration is best for conceiving a girl. As it gives the Y sperm a more difficult time trying to survive the vagina but the X sperm because of their resilience would outperform the Y sperm.
